FAQ

HOW DO I START?

Often times the hardest part of a yoga practice is simply stepping onto your mat. Your first step is to register online on MindBody to reserve your spot ahead of time. Arrive about 15 minutes before your first class to fill out a new student form and come prepared with your mat, water, and towel in tow.

AM I IN GOOD ENOUGH SHAPE FOR YOGA AND BARRE?

YES! We absolutely encourage all levels of fitness at Sanctuary. Our classes are designed so that all levels can be successful during any class. Our instructors are trained to offer modifcations and expantions so everyone walks out of class feeling perfectly challenged and amazing.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR CLASS?

We strongly suggest that you stay hydrated 24 hours before your class, but at the very least make sure to hydrate 2 hours prior to class. We also suggest that you practice yoga or barre at least two hours after eating. Come to class about 15 minutes before start time and don't forget your water, mat, and towel!

I'M NEW TO YOGA - WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Welcome! What may begin as a physical practice will transform into something much deeper. You can expect a hot, challenging, and sweaty class that will quickly transform your physical and mental self. If you are new to hot yoga, your goal is to simply stay in the room! Rest and hydrate as much as you need during class. Always listen to your body.

WHAT ABOUT CLASS ETIQUETTE?

At Sanctuary, our signature hot room is a quiet, meditative space. We ask that talking is kept to a minimum while in the hot room before and during class. As a safety precaution, we have a no ins and outs policy during class. If you feel overwhelmed or need to leave class early you are welcome to do so, we just ask that you exit quietly.

IS IT SAFE TO PRACTICE HOT YOGA DURING PREGNANCY?

We recommend continuing your yoga practice throughout pregnancy if you have been practicing for more than one year. However, we do NOT recommend practicing yoga in the hot room as it could potentially raise your core body temperature to levels that may be unsafe for the baby. During your pregnancy, it is best not to increase the frequency or intensity of any physcial activity you partake in. Always consult your doctor first!
